am not sure whether such a device exists, but think it would be a great utility to reproduce only the text, and not the background along with it. ya, there may be mis-uses of such a device to large extent, but a good one to have!
use-case :
want to renew the house rental agreement in the absence of my room-mate. would be great if i had a device which could capture his signature from an existing page and then reproduce it on the desired page, such that it looks hand-signed.
requirements :
a device which can scan only the relevant text from a given page. i mean to say if i want the signature, it should be able to scan only the sign part of given page frame, not the background. same functionality as a rubber stamp. it should be able to capture an image of only the ink-outline of signature and reproduce it exactly the same way on another page.
p.s. : roomie can't be physically present to sign, so the thought came into mind. not with any bad intentions :)
